Opioid switching - are conversion tables still up to date? Conversion factors for Transtec® need to be revised

Aachen, Germany, 15 December, 2006. Switching between different opioids is frequently used in patients with chronic pain either to improve pain relief, or as a way of reducing adverse effects. Determining the correct dosage of each opioid relies on the use of conversion tables which reflect the potency of each drug. As a result of recent experimental and clinical studies it has been realised that previous estimates of the potency of Transtec® may be too low.

EFIC Grünenthal Grant Winners Present Data from Sponsored Research Projects on Pain, Opening New Avenues Toward Better Treatment

--Data Presented at "Pain in Europe V" Congress--

Istanbul, 18 September, 2006. Winners of the 2005 and 2004 EFIC Grünenthal Grant (E-G-G) presented results of the funded projects with innovative clinical research toward a better understanding of pain and novel approaches for treating patients suffering from acute and chronic pain. The data were announced at the close of the Fifth Triennial Congress of the EFIC, a conference bringing together over 5000 researchers from across Europe.

Grünenthal GmbH presents tapentadol, a novel centrally acting analgesic, at the 25th Annual Scientific Meeting of The American Pain Society

Tapentadol would be the first new molecular entity in the class of oral centrally acting analgesics to enter medical practice in over 25 years.
